Member News We would like to hear what you, our club members and your border collie(s) have been up to, be it a fun adventure, trying out a new sport, earning a new “leg” or title, a new accomplishment, etc. We want to give accolades to all accomplishments from first experiences to championships. BCCGLA members only, please. Send info to Debbie@bccgla.com. June 2010 I am pretty proud of Paige’s intended, Hamish. He just got accepted into an elite corps of therapy dogs at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where he was tested yesterday with enthusiastic results. The Delta Society’s very experienced tester, Nancy Lippman, says that he and Johnny (Hamish’s sire) are the only “snuggly” Border Collies she has ever seen. I think it is because Selkie, Hamish’s grandmom, the wonder therapy dog (hence his registered name Ch Homage to Selkie), is still hanging around working her magic. Betsy Korbonski & The Border Collies of Tovarin January 25 & 30, 2010 Waggz handled by Karen Van Hoy completed his USDAA ADCH Title on Jan. January 2, 2010 Our Junior Handler, Amanda, and Cayenne, Ch Tartan Bay Spice It Up, earned their Open Agility Jumpers title with a 1st placement at Industry Hills with a time of 23.4 seconds in a field of 17.
October 24-25, 2009 (From Sonja:) Tatum (Miss Piggy), Ch Cordillera If Pigs Could Fly, got her PT title at the Arizona Herding Club Fall Chute Out Trial. Puck, Ch Sun Mtn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream HXAsd, HIBs, OA, OAJ, NF, RN, got her Advanced A Duck title (1st place and RHIT) and third place both days on Advanced A Sheep (out of 23 entries) for 6 Herding Ch points.
Herding Fun Day at TASK Farms-10/17/09 It was a great day of working with our dogs, camaraderie with friends old and new, and great food. Several dogs were tested for and passed the herding instinct evaluation. Several handlers and their borders got to experience herding ducks, and many practiced working in both the small and large arenas. Everyone was very generous and brought a wonderful selection for our potluck lunch. Terry BBQ’d a sumptuous turkey, made to-die-for cobblers, and Sonja made delicious tri-tip. |
